What happens if I don’t get the school I wanted?
For schools which are oversubscribed this does mean that the allocation of places will have to be decided by an 'admissions criteria'. If there are more applications than places then some parents may not get their preferred school choice.
If you are not satisfied with the outcome of your application, you have the right to appeal to an independent appeal panel. You can gain further support and advice from the Choice Adviser. You can have a friend attend the hearing with you, or support can be given by the Choice Adviser.
You can also request for your son/daughter to go on a waiting list for the school you prefer. If any of the places are then refused the Admissions Authority can then allocate a place to a Young Person highest on the list. (Lists are compiled according to the Admission Criteria.)
