Admissions Appeals
Appeals Information
Appeals are heard by a panel of 5 voluntary members of the public. At least one will have an educational background. The panel members will all be impartial and will not have any links with the school you are appealing about, or the local authority.
You can attend the hearing, along with any other parents involved if the panel is hearing lots of appeals for the same school. Your case will be heard on an individual basis. You can take a friend as support, but it is not appropriate for your child to attend the hearing. The Choice Advisory Service can also offer support through the appeals process, and can attend the hearing with you.
The hearing will take place by the 6th July for Secondary School Appeals. They will write to you at least 10 school days before the appeal hearing to let you know when your appeal is.
Parents can go to appeal for Primary School places, but there is class size legislation in place that can make it difficult for an appeal to be upheld.
If you need any further information or guidance, please feel free to call the Choice Adviser.
